Underwater Dock Lights

Underwater LED dock lights are high-intensity lighting systems designed to transform waterfront properties into vibrant, relaxing environments while attracting marine life. These lights are engineered to function in various water environments, including lakes, rivers, and saltwater.

Key Features and Models

There are two primary models of these lights, both of which are manufactured in the USA:

  • Apollo Series: Emits 16,000 lumens and creates a ball of light up to 40 feet across.
  • MegaWatt Series: Recognized as the brightest on the market, producing 22,000 lumens and creating a light diameter of up to 60 feet.

Both series offer a patented “IRIS” version, which produces two colors of light simultaneously—one in the center and another on the outer perimeter, mimicking the look of a human eye.

Benefits and Functionality

  • Fish Attraction: The lights attract bait fish, which in turn lure larger predatory fish, effectively turning a dock into a “virtual aquarium”. While several colors are available (including green, blue, white, red, orange, and purple), green and blue are specifically recommended for attracting the most marine life.
  • Safety: Beyond aesthetics, these lights serve as a safety feature by illuminating the water’s edge, which can help prevent accidents or act as a lifesaver if someone falls into the water after dark.
  • Energy Efficiency: These systems are highly efficient, with power consumption comparable to a standard 80-watt light bulb. They utilize low-voltage technology (24 volts DC) and can save over five times the electricity cost compared to conventional underwater lights.

Installation and Design

The lighting systems are designed for “plug-and-play” installation, typically taking less than 15 minutes to set up. Because the light heads are buoyant, they use an adjustable anchor weight system to set the desired depth.

  • Depth: While they can function at depths up to 30 feet, the optimal depth is 4–6 feet below the surface.
  • Cooling: They feature a patented flow-through water cooling system that enables their multi-faceted LED design.
  • Maintenance: Maintenance involves occasionally removing the light to scrape off barnacles or growth using a paint scraper and dish soap; however, the light must be unplugged before any handling or cleaning.
